Thanks once again to Sue over at A Word In Your Ear for another great ‘word a week challenge’, this time with the theme – Mountains. The most beautiful mountains I have seen were in New Zealand, a country formed by the collision of the Australian and Pacific tectonic plates. This collision resulted in stunning mountain ranges and beautiful volcanoes. Crown Ranges – Wanaka, New Zealand
Hang gliders over The Remarkables – Queenstown, New Zealand
Our Tiger-moth scenic tour over The Crown Ranges – Wanaka, NZ
Unfortunately it was summer when we were in New Zealand, so this was the best shot I could get of the Franz Joseph glacier – Southern Alps, NZ
The Remarkables – Queenstown
Sunset over Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Ruapehu, Taupo, NZ. Mt Ruapehu is one of the world’s most active volcanoes, and the largest active volcano in New Zealand.
On our early morning flight home to Australia, we were lucky enough to watch the sunrise over the Southern Alps from the window of the plane. The tips of the Alps appeared to be swimming on a lake of cloud.
wow what stuning photos worth a reblog I think

Monday’s reblogg in response to the A WORD A WEEK CHALLENGE – MOUNTAIN comes from faces and places and wide open spaces – wonderful photos
Thanks so much! And thanks as always for a great reason to touch up old photos…
WONDERFUL…. Amazing NZ!
NZ is absolutely stunning, I agree. Sometimes looking at a lake or a mountain range it didn’t look real. I can’t wait to get back there!
That’s my exactly same feeling…sometimes I found myself touching a stone or a tree because it seems too vivid, too perfect to doesn’t seem real!!! It is defenetly the best country I’ve seen so far! Love it… 🙂
This makes me want re-live my gap year and go travelling! With two children in tow this time.
Mountains hold an allure for me too. I will have to dig out some of my NZ photos (from winter) to compare.
Such a stunning set of photos. NZ is one of my top destinations where I will travel to someday.
It’s well worth it. We did it top to bottom, completely different yet equally stunning the whole way!
definitely a paradise for trekkers 🙂 great pictures!!
Thankyou!

I lived in NZ Nth Island for nearly 40 years but now live in Australia and I only recently visited the fabulous South Island for the first time when we went over for a trip last year. I agree the mountains and scenery over there are just stunning
